On Thursday, October 3rd, Salem Anglican will begin a new Bible Study for Everyone taught by Father Jason Clark. To aid our study, we will be using N.T. Wright’s For Everyone commentary series beginning with the Gospel of Matthew. The Bible Study will meet on most Thursday evenings at Trinity Covenant Church from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the classroom a cross from the Fireside Room. The address is 5020 Liberty RD S, Salem, OR, 97306. We will take the first hour of class for instruction into the important themes and context of the assigned Biblical passages and we will use the last half hour for spiritual encouragement and support in small groups using a strategic format. The goal is to provide the participant an opportunity for spiritual growth, relationship building, and constant encouragement. The desire of Salem Anglican is to grow authentic disciples of Jesus Christ who are growing in their love for Jesus and for their neighbor. We hope you can join us.
Click the picture below and the link will take you to amazon.com where you can purchase a copy of Matthew for Everyone Part 1. There is also a link to Matthew for Everyone Part 2 and the Matthew for Everyone Study Guide. The books are beneficial to your study, but you do not need to purchase a copy of the book to participate. Other study tools can be used at your discretion. The class will include instruction and open discussion where different perspectives can be shared.
Salem Anglican meets every Saturday evening at Trinity Covenant Church. The address is 5020 Liberty RD S, Salem, OR, 97306. Worship begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room, but we invite you to also join us for our fellowship meal in the gymnasium at 5:00 p.m. There is no need to bring anything, we always have enough food. Please come as you are. Our worship consists of the liturgy of Evening Prayer followed by the Holy Eucharist.
Salem Anglican values its children. There is room for our children to stretch their legs in the gymnasium during our meal time and children are welcome in our worship service. We do provide an age appropriate lesson for young children during the liturgy of the Word, but we invite young children back into our sanctuary for our celebration of the Eucharist. All baptized Christians, including our children, who have been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit are welcome to receive the sacrament of Holy Eucharist. Those who have not been baptized or feel they are not ready to receive, are welcome to come forward and receive a blessing.
Salem Anglican desires to plant a new Anglican parish for Salem that is Christ-centered, sacramental, and liturgical. The new parish will eventually meets for worship on Sunday mornings. Our current goal is to build our core congregation along with a leadership team that will help us officially plant a new church. We are in the process of identifying ways that we can grow in our relationships with one another and be a positive contributor to the Salem community through works of service. Please consider joining us on a Saturday night during Advent to see if Salem Anglican is right for you.
May the peace of the Lord be with you,
Rev. Jason Clark
